PROPELLER OPTIMIZATION

Due to the operation at reduced rpm range of slow steaming, the propeller efficiency is likely to be reduced as it goes out of its optimum rpm range. Therefore, replacing the existing propeller with a new propeller designed for the lower rpm would improve the propulsive efficiency of the vessel. A CFD analysis is to be performed to ascertain the efficiency that could be achieved by the new propeller. The old propeller could also be exchanged for new one, the material would cover 40-50 percent of the new propeller cost
