The bulbous bow creates its own wave system which interfere with the ship’s wave system. A bulbous bow when designed correctly, reduces the resistance of the ship through destructive wave interreference. This reduced resistance results in a higher speed of the ship for a given power, or a reduced power requirement of the ship for a given speed.
